Wahoo! My first blog post ever! If you are reading this you are probably a family member (hi Dad!) or a close friend. Regardless, thank you for dropping in and checking out my new hobby.
For those who haven't met me before, I'm Emily Janzen. I proudly consider myself an outdoors enthusiast, a lover of nature, a weekend warrior— whatever you want to call it. Being outside and going on camping, hiking and canoe trips is second nature to me. It's the stuff I live for! Having been surrounded by like-minded people for most of my life, I assumed everyone had the same wilderness savvy. I recently realized that is not the case when I took a friend out for a paddle and watched them, in horror, step into the canoe like they were walking down the stairs. They were shocked to find canoes are not so steady.
I started this blog as I realized I have a bunch of information and tips that I would love to share with anyone who is interested. I want to help people make the most of their outdoor experiences, inspire others to get into the wilderness and maybe even uncover a few hidden gems along the way. I'm constantly learning as I go, and I want to share these discoveries with all of you. You can expect posts about travel, outdoor adventure destinations, handy tips and tricks I've picked up along the way, suggested hiking and canoeing routes, recommended camping spots—essentially, anything that comes to mind.
